This pregnancy has been so different from my pregnancy with Lily in almost every way. With Lily, I loved being pregnant, every single day. I was nauseous and had heartburn, but I kind of just breezed through it and took like fifteen naps a day. This time has been so much more intense -- more nausea, more heartburn, swollen ankles, all kinds of ligament pain, and being so so exhausted. I feel like I'm like 9 months along already (and I look like it too, so that's not fun). I think a lot of it comes from chasing after a two-year-old all day long, but I'm happy that she keeps me pretty active. We walk at least two miles a day here in Santa Monica (it's about a mile to our parish, so when we go to daily mass we walk two miles total, and that's not counting wherever we might go afterward), so I'm not just laying around the house like I did when I was pregnant with Lily.
But despite how hard it may feel, I am so thankful for this pregnancy and every little kick I'm starting to feel. Baby brother seems to love when I eat lots of fruit & lots of beef. I'm especially craving peaches and ripe strawberries all the time! And yesterday I had a cup of fresh squeezed orange juice and I told Lily it was the best juice in the entire world.
I have started nesting a little bit, but it's not really possible since we're in California now and the baby will be born when we're back in Arizona. And anyways, we'll probably be moving for residency when he's six months old. I have bought a few little baby boy outfits though and they are so cute! It's hard getting used to grabbing boy clothes when I am so used to all of the cute girl outfits, but I'm getting the hang of it!
I'm so excited to meet this little boy and can't wait to see how Lily does with him! I'm also working on putting together a little registry, since we have nothing really for a boy to wear or play with, so to all the boy mamas -- what are your favorite baby boy essentials? I'd love to hear!
