When our priest mentioned Peter during mass a few months ago and Lily instantly asked, "mama, he talking about Peter Pan?", I knew we had been filling our days with a little too much Disney and not enough Jesus. So we set out to find a few Christian videos that would teach her about the characters and stories of the Church, a way to make our everyday lives a little more Christ-filled and fun.
So I was so excited when I discovered the Brother Francis series of coloring books and films about a month ago! We picked up a coloring book at the cafe at our parish, and then when I found out the company also made videos for teaching children about our faith, I ordered all of them online for us to try out.
We are all so in love with these videos. They are pretty well made (especially in comparison to other religious kids shows), they are very thorough in their lessons, and they have lots of fun songs that Lily loves to sing. Brother Francis uses real life situations that children can understand to teach about Christmas, the Eucharist, prayer, Easter, and so many practical ways that we live out our faith.
Each episode is about thirty minutes long so I can let Lily choose an episode to watch while I'm getting ready or picking up the house a little, or we also love watching them together. I'm so happy we found Brother Francis and I am so excited to share about them with all of you! I know Lily probably watches a little too much TV, so having her watch something educational and positive sure helps the mom guilt. ;)
I hope you love Brother Francis as much as we do! What are your favorite faith-based entertainment options for littles?
