A few nights ago as we were driving home, Lily and I were talking about our day and she started to cry about something that had upset her that day. She said, "Mama, you tell Jesus..." and proceeded to pour out her heart to me. When she finished, she repeated, "You tell Jesus, Mama."
As I drove, I prayed out loud for her and she listened. I thanked God for her family and friends, for our day, for our safety, for every little thing she added in as I went along. I asked God to help her heal from what had happened that day (it wasn't anything traumatic, but in her eyes it was important). I asked God to give her strength and to help her grow in her love for Him and for others.
And I realized: this is real life intercession. This is what we are doing when we ask Mama Mary or any of the saints to pray for us. We are saying "You tell Jesus, You ask Jesus," on our behalf. The communion of saints unites us through Christ, and it is beautiful.
