Augustine is just about six months old and has always been a medium-good sleeper, but there are some (many) nights where you'll find me rocking, nursing, singing, anything to get him back to sleep. I've tried to make this time one of prayer, being intentional about my attitude and my thoughts because they were so often drifting to crankiness and pity parties. I wrote down something along the lines of what I try to pray & thought I'd share for any other sleep deprived mamas out there. We're in this together! They have to sleep at some point, right? ;) But until then, we can use this time to grow in gratitude and Christ's love.
practicing prayer while up all night with my baby
Lord, Thank you for trusting me to be this child's mother. Thank you for the privilege of being their comfort, their nourishment, their safe place while they are still so little. Thank you for this opportunity to praise you and embrace a servant's heart, even in the middle of the night.
Please wrap us all in your love and surround us with your protection throughout the night. Grant us peace and rest until morning.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
